GREAT ROADS,
SCENERY, FOOD, & FUN
The foothills of the
Appalachian
Mountains provide some
of the most scenic roads on the East Coast. These great roads will play a key
role in The Virginia Rally 2008. Both rides will be in the
form of a "Poker Run", with a "slight twist" on how you get your
Poker cards. There will be cash payouts for the best hands (*number
of hands receiving payouts is dependent on the number of
participants).
On
Thursday there will be a "Blue Ridge Lunch/Poker
Ride". This ride will not be a "parade" along Blue
Ridge Parkway. As scenic as it is, and as perfect as its
pavement is, the BRP has lots of tourist traffic and has a
strictly enforced 45-mph speed limit. Although there
will be about 10 miles of riding on the Blue Ridge
Parkway (just so every one gets to experience it), the bulk of the
roads will be on the less congested mountain roads which feed in to,
and surround, the Blue Ridge Parkway. At about the ride's
half-way point, there will be a nice lunch, and then there
will be some more great roads to ride back on.
On Friday, The Virginia Rally
2008 ride will take you around one of the most beautiful
lakes in Virginia - Smith Mountain Lake. Just like the Blue
Ridge Poker ride, we have selected roads which are scenic,
curvy and fun. Friday's ride will take you by couple good
Southern Virginia eating establishments, some of which may be your
Poker Run stops and at the same time your
lunch break.
